Envision Financial’s The Full Cupboard donations smash the $500,000 mark

September 8, 2017

Langley, B.C.—Today, Envision Financial, a division of First West Credit Union, announced that donations to its signature cause, The Full Cupboard, have passed $500,000―a milestone the Langley, B.C.-based financial institution didn’t expect to reach until next year.

Launched in March 2013, The Full Cupboard is Envision Financial’s community investment program aimed at raising food, funds and awareness for food banks throughout British Columbia’s Fraser Valley.

“It’s a tremendous achievement,” says Envision Financial President Dave Lanphear of The Full Cupboard donation totals. “In 2013, we started on a 10-year journey to raise $1 million and 100,000 pounds of food for our local community food banks. In only four years, we’ve already surpassed the halfway mark towards our $1 million goal and, equally as impressive, we’ve collected more than 69,000 pounds of food for Fraser Valley food banks.”

“The Full Cupboard is fully funded by employees, members and our communities―who have wholeheartedly embraced this cause―which makes it unique from other corporate giving programs,” says Lanphear. “Everyone who’s supported The Full Cupboard should be commended for their worthy contributions.”

An essential part of Envision Financial’s success has been its collaborative efforts with non-profit partners, notably Food Banks BC. Through this partnership, formed in 2013, the credit union has indirectly supported food banks across British Columbia through initiatives like a text-to-donate program and a webinar series. Created in partnership with Vantage Point, these webinars provide essential professional development and learning opportunities to leaders and volunteers at community food banks.

“Envision Financial and The Full Cupboard have accomplished amazing things for local food banks,” says Laura Lansink, executive director of Food Banks BC. “In just a few short years, The Full Cupboard has positively impacted the lives of thousands of people facing hunger, ensuring that nutritious foods like meat, dairy, fresh fruit and vegetables are available, and that community gardens and kitchens, school lunches and afterschool snack programs are active and thriving.”

As Lansink goes on to explain, “The Full Cupboard has united Envision Financial employees and members like no other campaign in our Food Bank network. Celebrating this $500,000 accomplishment is tremendously encouraging for food bank partners and our communities.”

Community members can support The Full Cupboard program by donating non-perishable food items or making cash donations at their nearest Envision Financial branch. All donations of more than $20 are tax-deductible. Donations can be made as on-time contributions, through regular pre-authorized payments or online through thefullcupboard.ca or through the Food Banks BC online donations portal at: foodbanksbc.com/get-involved/thefullcupboard
